Meet Our Staff

Mark has served as the Pastor at Orenco Church since October of 1983. Following his education at California State University and Fuller Theological Seminary, Mark served churches in Red Bluff, California and Oregon City, Oregon. His wife, Lisa, is a 6th grade teacher at Orenco Elementary School.

Mark and his wife Lisa have three children: Sarah, recently graduated from Oregon State University and now working in Arizona; Ben, a sophomore at Oregon State University; and Alyssa, an 8th grader at Meadow Park Middle School.

His favorite book of the Bible is Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, with his favorite passage of the book shared to him by an special uncle: “This is my prayer, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God” (chapter 1, verses 9-11).

Mark enjoys music, playing both the piano and the guitar, and following his favorite Bay area sports teams.

Rachel has been on staff since 2007 and a member of Orenco Church since 2006. After growing up in Carson City, Nevada, Rachel graduated from the University of Portland, where she met her husband, Brian. After moving to Alaska for a few years, they returned to Portland and call this area home. She is originally from the East Coast and continually longs for Philadelphia hoagies.

Rachel is in her fifteenth year of ministry and has served at many churches in a variety of positions. She has a heart for worship, prayer, Bible study, and ministering to all ages. She is most excited about Alpha right now and its impact on hearts and lives: “God has indeed exceeded our expectations through this ministry. We had so many sign up for our first course – in 2010 – that we had to count forks, of all things, to make sure we had enough to provide for all who came! God is continuing to do amazing things through this program.”

Rachel is studying at George Fox Evangelical Seminary, and in her free time, she enjoys music, reading, and letting her kids climb all over her. Her husband, Brian, is a veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and continues to serve as a Major in the Army National Guard. Their oldest daughter, Grace, is in second grade. Their twins - Samuel and Rebekah – attend Orenco Christian Preschool.
