It's auction season in my house! In just an hour, I will be attending my first auction of the year, in support of our oldest daughter’s school. On the heels of this auction, we will attend Orenco’s annual auction on Saturday, May 4th. And this year, I agreed to make a video presentation of our church’s ministries, to “air” on May 4th. Come and see what you may have missed out on! Yesterday I looked through hundreds of photos from Orenco Church over the last few years. There were many times I had completely forgotten, and as I was reminded of our ministries, I was so grateful – as well as humbled – to see what God does in our midst. It is truly amazing!
I looked through pictures of our children in Sunday School and participating in the children’s choir. There are pictures of our teens sleeping in cardboard boxes, raising money for the homeless. The women of our church gathered for their annual brunch and prayed during Bible Study. Various guests sang on stage during some fun concerts in the last year or two! Over one hundred children came through our doors for Vacation Bible School. The Community Garden celebrated its grand opening. The Easter egg hunt welcomed preschoolers through teenagers, searching all through our property. Our first annual Community Picnic was fun with a bouncy slide for kids and adults alike! Our Deacons’ Food Pantry was stocked, depleted, and restocked again. And we gathered as the Body of Christ, in praise and worship, to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Of course, these photos only touch upon what we do as a church. As our weather improves this spring and summer there will be more opportunities, especially in service to our community.
There is so much joy in community together! I urge you – get involved beyond our worship together on Sunday mornings. It is of tremendous importance to gather together and worship God. Beyond that, He has given us a gift in one another, as we serve together, and also as we fellowship in all that we do.
